RECYCLED PUFF JACKET

One hundred billion plastic bags are thrown away each year. This project demonstrates an innovative method for repurposing plastic bags into a variety of jacket designs. Initial designs involved stitching bags into puffy layers, and assembling those sections into a jacket. Later designs sped this process up by layering bags and laminating them together under a clothing iron. Both designs resulted in a strong, water-resistant and warm jacket, but issues of overheating and stiffness persisted. This was somewhat resolved by adding perforations where there was significant articulation or heating.
